Modules to be completed by the children themselves are a playful way to teach them how to look at art. As they progress through the rooms containing the collection’s most important works, they learn how to interpret and understand perspective, antique interiors, ancient myths and legends – or even just a play of glances.

The Mondo Novo: create your own diorama
Painting theatre scenery was an art in eighteenth century Venice, with its many vivid theatres, and famous Venetian painters began their career in this field. Among them, Marco Ricci, Michele Marieschi, Gaspare Diziani, and Canaletto himself, whose father, Bernardo Canal, worked in the theatre of Sant’Angelo. On the other hand, the Venetian eighteenth century Museum of Ca’ Rezzonico everywhere offers, in its opulent spaces, illusory visions, allegories, but also city views, landscapes, scenes of everyday life and individual characters. Having observed these, the participants move on to the workshop where they can make their own diorama- that is, a fascinating overlay of different stage scenery that can generate surprising three-dimensional effects.
