The major restoration of Ca’ Rezzonico
Ca’ Rezzonico is currently undergoing a major programme of architectural, structural and conservation works affecting the section of the building that houses the Ballroom. For clarity, the project has been divided into three main areas: structural reinforcement; restoration of the external façades; and the conservation of the Ballroom’s decorative ceiling and wall surfaces.
Changes to the visitor route
The safety of both visitors and the museum’s heritage remains our highest priority. Please note that the logistics of the works require some temporary changes to the usual visitor route:
- within the Ballroom, the scale of the structural reinforcement and restoration has made it necessary to install an extensive system of scaffolding that occupies much of the space. Visitors can continue through the room safely via dedicated routes; however, the ceiling fresco and the decorated walls are currently not visible, temporarily affecting the appreciation of this historic interior.
Areas open as usual
The restoration site is limited to this specific area of the palace. All other sections of Ca’ Rezzonico remain fully open and accessible, including the frescoes by Giambattista Tiepolo, the decorative arts collections, the Portego with its paintings, the Egidio Martini Picture Gallery, and the historic « Ai Do San Marchi » Pharmacy.
