The masterpieces of Ca' Rezzonico available online

Thanks to the collaboration between the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia and the Google Cultural Institute, Ca‘ Rezzonico is now part of Google Art Project: an online platform through which the public around the world can access high-resolution images of works of art in the collections of museums partners in the initiative, with the goal of democratizing access to culture and to promote its preservation for future generations.

For Ca‘ Rezzonico are uploaded over 90 high resolution images of some of the most representative works of the collection and the museum display. These masterpieces include works by Giambattista Tiepolo (La Nobiltà e la Virtù che abbattono l’ignoranzaIl Trionfo di Zefiro e Flora), frescos from Villa Zianigo by Giandomenico Tiepolo, with the suggestive Mondo Novo and scenes from the Pulcinella’s life. At the end of the gallery two wonderful views by Canaletto, the Veduta del Rio dei Mendicanti and the Canal Grande da Ca’ Balbi verso Rialto.

Virtual tour and special stories

Ca‘ Rezzonico can also be explored through the virtual exhibition Journey into Eighteenth-Century Venice and a Street View virtual tour, allowing visitors to navigate the museum’s remarkable interiors and examine artworks and architectural details that are often difficult to appreciate during an in-person visit.

Among the featured highlights is The Grand Canal from Ca‘ Balbi to the Rialto by Canaletto. Thanks to its ultra-high-resolution Gigapixel image, visitors can examine the painting’s surface in extraordinary detail, revealing brushstrokes and features that are invisible to the naked eye.

The painting is also featured in ‚The Secret of Canaletto‘, one of the stories created as part of the Grand Tour d’Italia project.
