About sixty drawings are on show, some by Giandomenico and some by his father Giambattista. They form part of the Museo Correr collections and are not normally exhibited. Many of them relate to another important work by the young artist: the extraordinary Via Crucis in the Oratory of the Crucifix at the church of San Polo. Explanatory texts located both at the exhibition in Ca’ Rezzonico and at the Oratory of San Polo illustrate the links between the two.

The drawings have been restored thanks to the American committee Save Venice Inc. as part of the UNESCO programme – Private Committees for the Protection of Venice.

A second important exhibition, The Tiepolo. Etchings plates from the Museo Correr collections, curated by Camillo Tonini, will be open to the public from 15 December to 9 February 2005.

The exhibitions at Ca’ Rezzonico have been made possible thanks to the support of Insula Spa. The combined project for the bicentenary celebration was organised by the Musei Civici Veneziani in collaboration with Chorus – Il Museo della Città.

In addition, the Fondazione Giorgio Cini has organised the exhibition entitled Tiepolo. Irony and Comedy, currently showing on the island of San Giorgio from 3 September to 5 December.
