An unusual look at Russian art from the last 30 years, highlighting its complexity and variety, beyond cliche. The exhibition features 70 works by artists such as Yuri Albert, Ivan Chuikov, Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, Vitaly Komar and Alexander Melamid, Boris Orlov and Anatoly Osmolovsky, as well as Alexander Ponomarev with his ‘Submarine Subtiziano’.
Curated by Vladimir Levashov, the exhibition is being jointly organised by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia and the Stella Art Foundation of Moscow. The latter is not only involved in this big project, but is also participating in the 53rd Venice Biennale supporting artists like Elena Elagina & Igor Makarevich, Anna Parkina, Pavel Pepperstein and Anya Zholud in the official selection for the Arsenale, and the poetic performances of the Moscow Poetry Club, from 3 to 7 June.
